Christchurch Girls High School
The Christchurch Girls High School Performing Arts Centre (PAC) replaced a building damaged during the Canterbury earthquakes. The PAC is part of a comprehensive master plan, which includes ongoing strengthening and refurbishment of existing buildings and the overall planning for campus redevelopment. This new building provides an important community connection to the school supporting the creative arts including dance and drama studios, music teaching and practice rooms, a 276 seat theatre and specialist art and digital suites. The new reception and administration hub provides the front door to the campus, now with a clear connection embracing the beauty of the Avon River to the north. The PAC is designed to be super efficient and is “Net Zero Energy Ready” - the northern roof area when installed with photovoltaics will provide all of the net annual energy requirements. Justin was project and design lead architect with Jasmax for this project.
